Wedding Blog - it’s a bride’s life - real brides blogging ’til “I do!”

When I linked my last post on my facebook page, my fantastic photographer (Orasis Photography) did an awesome thing (after asking me, of course) and called up Antoniou Winery. He posted on my wall ‘good news!’ and sent me their number.

While I was fumbling with the international phone number, Mr. Antoniou himself gave me a call and assured me the date was open. HOT DOG! The venue was mine! ALL MINE!

Then he sent me the price information.

To have a wedding there is 400euro. Which is fine. However,  to have a reception there…

Now, I don’t know about your budget, however, I have one, and I intend to keep it under – no going into debt due to a wedding.

To have a reception:

1500euro if under 50 people (which it will be).
80euro a person for full menu and wine (it IS a nice menu).
400euro for the dance floor.
600euro for the DJ.

All that and, oh yes, that pesky VAT.

That price is similar to what my sister is spending for her reception and SHE is having a 150 person wedding!

Luckily, our coordinators told us we can rent speakers and iPod hookup for some 100euro. Shazam.

So, now I’m on the lookout for a reception venue. By the time the wedding and pics/ alone time are done, the famous sunset will have occurred and so the reception venue doesn’t really need to be on the caldera. However, will it cost just as much to rent a restaurant’s private room? …. I have nooooooo idea.

Good news is, we have the ceremony location at the venue I want. I can now sigh in relief.
