The Groom’s Choice

Posted on November 16, 2013 by  Miss Glitzy Bride   //   Comment

Considering doing something special for the boys? How about a cigar bar? Having a cigar bar at our reception was extremely important to my fiancé. In fact, his first question to vendors when we began looking at venues was where and how a cigar bar would be set up. While my fiancé is not a smoking aficionado, the idea of a celebratory cigar with the boys appeals to him. Why limit the celebration to just the groom and groomsmen? A cigar bar is a nice way to include guests in a celebratory puff as well.

Are you thinking about including a cigar bar at your reception? There are several different ways you can create a cigar bar to fit your budget. Hiring a professional cigar roller provides double the entertainment! Guests can view firsthand the fine art of rolling tobacco leaves and enjoy a fresh cigar made especially for them.

Or you can go the DIY route; buy a variety of cigars and display them on a designated table so guests can help themselves whenever they choose. Either way, a cigar bar is sure to be a big hit with your groom!

While my fiancé is on the hunt for the right tobacco blends, I will be hunting down the perfect sign and accessories to tie it all together. From custom cigar boxes or humidors, matchbooks and cutters, even the cigar label themselves can be personalized with initials or the wedding date. You really can make the cigar bar as unique and personal as you want, just be sure to remember the lighters!

My Groom’s Request: A Whiskey and Cigar Bar

Posted on October 26, 2013 by  Miss Romantic Bride   //   Comment

From the start of wedding planning, I’ve sought the opinion of my groom-to-be in the big decision making process. In some instances, he “respected my expertise” and let me choose what I preferred, but in others, he’s been vocal and honest about his likes and dislikes. I was happy he shared his input about our venue, but most especially his request for a cigar and whiskey bar.  He enjoys an evening cordial from time to time and tries new cigar flavors when the opportunity presents itself. We have a good mix of young and old gentlemen attending our wedding, both of which fancy scotch, so I look forward to this little display on one of our two terraces for our guests to enjoy!

Smoke Clouds

The sunset, mixed with the waves crashing and the cool ocean breeze are going to create the ideal ceremony I have painted in my mind. My fiance and I were fortunate enough to find an outdoor covered ceremony space, with cement floors (I HAVE to wear heels!) instead of sand. Our ceremony space is also connected to the reception room. Everything in one location…fabulous!

When the ceremony is over and our guests move into the cocktail hour space, the outdoor location will be transformed into a cigar lounge…at least that is what we would like to see happen. This idea is not going to be popular to the women we call “Mom”, but we both think it is a cool idea. It would be even better if we could secure a professional cigar roller to make cigars on the spot!

Love this sign I found on Etsy!

A Cigar Bar for Dad

Posted on May 13, 2012 by  Miss Irish Bride   //   2 Comments

I love the smell of cigars. It reminds me of being young at my grandparent’s house with my Pepé in his den having a “stogie”. It reminds me of my dad enjoying a cigar on the back deck on a cool New Hampshire night. And now it will remind us of our wedding!

After sharing a cigar with my dad at my cousin’s beach wedding in Mexico, I knew I needed to add this to our wedding must-haves. Thanks to the help of my future brother-in-law, the cigar aficionado, we will have our very own Cigar Bar set up for guests to enjoy at the reception. Not only will it be a fun addition to the celebration, but it’s a way for me to thank and honor the guy who has always been there for me, taught me so much, passed along his love of the Sox and will walk me down the aisle in just a few short weeks. I love you, Dad!
