Oh how I love my David Tutera for Mon Cheri Brides…and Tiffany is no exception! I was thrilled to get a chance to look through all of her photos from her beautiful country wedding that was filled with tons of wonderful DIY projects. She looked so stunning wearing David Tutera for Mon Cheri Milena (Style No. 112200) in rose.
I asked Tiffany if she could share with us a bit about her wedding planning and day…
I got engaged on July 3, 2012. The first thing I booked was my favorite photographer, Sharon Hundley with Sharon Elizabeth Photography. I am also a photographer (Tiffany Lee Photography). And here’s a clue to picking your photographer – if another photographer books them to do photos, they are GOOD!
Up next the search for the perfect dress…eek!! I love white gowns but I wanted different and I wanted WOW! When I saw an ad with a beautiful David Tutera for Mon Cheri pink wedding gown, I thought it was perfect, it was me… I had to have it!! I knew it was going to be the dress of my dreams! I searched every local store online looking for the dress… finally I found Tiffany’s Bridal in Richmond, VA. The store didn’t have it in stock but they called David’s office and they agreed to have one shipped there for me so I could try it on. I was so excited to try it on! I finally got the call that it was in, and I knew when I stepped into that gorgeous gown that it was THE DRESS. It was everything I wanted. It was PERFECT and I was head over heels in love with it. So in love that it was the dress that made me just want to stand in the store and twirl. But then it hit me… if I’m in pink, what are my bridesmaids going to wear??? Bam…it came to me right away…I’ll wear pink and THEY will wear a simple but ruffled ivory dress…
Now my husband is a true country boy! He loves jeans, country music, dogs, pick-up trucks, fishing, hunting, 4-wheeling, and just about anything that is outdoors! So when I told him I found my perfect dress and he said he thought it would be great to get married in jeans, all I could think was OMG – THIS DRESS with him in jeans…how in the world would I ever make that work!?!?! I mean I love country too, but not so far as jeans at a wedding! But I knew I had to make it work, after all isn’t a wedding about two people as individuals becoming one? So, the idea of a country chic wedding came into my head. I wanted beautiful and elegant but I also wanted simple and country…all rolled up together.
The next year I spent sitting for hours making every lil’ detail and decoration for our wedding from favors to flowers. What I didn’t have the talent to make myself, I searched yard sales, antique stores, and thrift and junk shops until I found it.
Our wedding was going to be an outdoor ceremony at the beautiful New Kent Winery, in New Kent VA with a tent reception. I found 2 old beautiful doors to use as an entryway to the seating area, we set up hay bales for seats, and we borrowed 2 whiskey barrels from a friend. I also made an aisle out of empty wine bottles that I spray painted white and put baby’s breathe in them. Perfect since our venue was a country vineyard!
So, it all came together and EVERYTHING was in place…except, the forecast that morning called for rain starting between 2pm and 5pm. My wedding was 5pm! But we kept our fingers crossed that we’d make it through. I did set up a lot of decorations in the tent that I initially was going to use outdoors, but we went ahead with all the decorations for the ceremony outdoors. After 3pm, the wind started blowing a little and every now and then a drip of rain would hit you. By 4:45pm, it looked like the sky would pour any second. Since, it looked like most of the guests were there, we decided to start moving! I think the parents and grandparents were in their seats by 5pm on the nose! Somehow, we made it and even had a few minutes left to spare to get in some photos! And I have to say that kissing in the rain on your wedding day in a vineyard in a David Tutera for Mon Cheri gown…is pure magic!
My wedding day was PERFECT and everything I dreamed it would be; eloquent and beautiful but yet simple and country all rolled into one. Our guests spent the night dancing the night away and laughing and smiling while the rain poured down outside of our tent. Everyone was having so much fun it was like we forgot all about the storm outside. The low-country boil food was a hit and every small detail down to simple table decoration I made were noticed by all.
Thank you so much for sharing your wedding with me, Tiffany! You did such a fabulous job and are truly a beautiful bride! Congratulations!
