The Story of Erin and Chris – A Pittsburgh Tradition

Posted on September 7, 2013 by  Miss Detailed Bride   //   2 Comments

I’ve mentioned before that Pittsburgh has a unique tradition at wedding receptions.  Pittsburgh couples are known for having over the top cookie tables, and Chris and I were no exception.

We turned the entire upper level of our reception hall into a room for our cookies, complete with candelabras and damask table runners to keep our theme cohesive throughout the reception.

Each cookie was perfectly plated, and had its own damask name card.

One corner of our cookie table included bags of assorted chocolates for our guests’ enjoyment.  Guests could also take a bag full of kisses and leave a their best wishes for the new Mr. and Mrs.

Woah. How many cookies did you have?
So you didn’t do a cake and did cookies instead?

We had about 2,800 cookies! They were all homemade by myself, and family and friends. We actually still did the traditional wedding cake. In our area, it’s normal to have a large amount of cookies at the reception, even during the cocktail hour.
