My older sister has a slight Victorian theme with her wedding, so I threw her an Alice in Wonderland, Mad Hatter tea party for her bridal shower. I had vented my frustrations before on not being able to find a venue suitable for this, but was able to make-do with what was given to me.
She LOVED everything about the shower and she has told me guests thought it was the best shower they had ever been to. I’m just happy we (the bridesmaids) were able to pull this off!

Please excuse these two photos! I ran out of time and getting shots of the invites completely fell off my To Do list. My sister had to take pics on her phone and send them to me. As far as the invite is concerned, the keys were an inexpensive find on ebay.

I got these cute bottle favors from My Wedding Favors, though I added the ‘take me’ tag and little charm.
Games played:
- Of course, a “How Well Do You Know The Bride” game.
- ‘More Pepper‘. There are six spices concealed in cups, guests have to guess what the spice is!
- ‘Humpty Dumpty‘. This is a hot potato game, but with a hard-boiled egg. When it gets down to fewer people, TWO hard-boiled eggs.
- ‘Caucus Race’. This is simply musical chairs.
- ‘Nonsense’. This was a list of British words and the guests had to figure out what their American equivalent was.
- ‘Change Places!’ Randomly throughout the party, the bride or bridesmaids would yell ‘CHANGE PLACES!’ and everyone would have to get up and relocate. At the end of the party, guests looked under their seats to see if they had a playing card taped under it. Playing card = prize!
- ‘Queen of Hearts‘. Each black and red balloon on the back wall had a playing card in it. ONE had the Queen of Hearts. Guests had to run up, grab a balloon, sit on it to pop it, and find her. Whoever found her would be the winner!
Before each game was played, I gave a short blurb on their role in the Alice stories. ‘More Pepper’ links to the Duchess and the cook, the ‘Caucus Race’ is when Alice comes out of the Pool of Tears, and so on.
It took months to plan this and I was totally drained afterwards. But, my sister and her guests had a GREAT time. So, all was worth it!

This idea turned out so great. Thanks for sharing!
