I Found Them!

..With a lot of help from Papa and Aunt Kathy. I present THE chiming bells that were actually used for papa and great grandma!

And like the matchbooks of old, they say Lucy & Andrew 11-29-1942. So cute!

A Cigar Bar for Dad

Posted on May 13, 2012 by  Miss Irish Bride   //   2 Comments

I love the smell of cigars. It reminds me of being young at my grandparent’s house with my Pepé in his den having a “stogie”. It reminds me of my dad enjoying a cigar on the back deck on a cool New Hampshire night. And now it will remind us of our wedding!

After sharing a cigar with my dad at my cousin’s beach wedding in Mexico, I knew I needed to add this to our wedding must-haves. Thanks to the help of my future brother-in-law, the cigar aficionado, we will have our very own Cigar Bar set up for guests to enjoy at the reception. Not only will it be a fun addition to the celebration, but it’s a way for me to thank and honor the guy who has always been there for me, taught me so much, passed along his love of the Sox and will walk me down the aisle in just a few short weeks. I love you, Dad!

Wedding Planning Tools

Posted on May 12, 2012 by  Miss Irish Bride   //   Comment

From the start I knew I wanted to be my own wedding planner.  Being creative and having 5 years of on the job event planning under my belt, I figured this was a DIY I could tackle.  Although I’m enlisting the help of some wonderful friends the day of, all the planning leading up to our big day is being done by yours truly.  I’m not going to lie, some days it’s a bit overwhelming, having a full time job and commuting too, but in the end I know it will be so worth it!  Throughout the process there are many tools that have helped me and I’d honestly be lost without them.

Of course, my wedding binder has been a life saver.  It contains all of our info and goes with me to every vendor meeting. And it’s extra organized now thanks to Miss Sparkly Bride’s DIY Wedding Binder post! Unfortunately I can’t carry my binder everywhere, so I’ve turned to WeddingWire.  Their planning tools have been so helpful! From a monthly checklist…

to our very own vendor database…

and even an app on my iPhone!

And since I’m not always working off of one computer, my new best friend is Google Docs! I can upload all of our wedding documents- guest list, vendor contacts, etc- and access them anytime, anywhere.

the quickest way to your wedding website

Posted on May 11, 2012 by  Miss Peacock Bride   //   Comment

I am seeing QR (quick response) codes everywhere lately, but I never expected to see one on the wedding invitation for one of my best friends! This magical image was on the back of one of the invitation insert which once scanned by my smartphone brought me directly to their wedding website! What a great idea and it’s so easy to execute. There are ton of sites where anyone can make their own QR code, I made this one in seconds for It’s a Brides Life at at Kaywa.

These magical bar codes can look pretty too, what a great way to add even more color and design to wedding paper goods. I made this next version at Beautiful QR Codes.

If you want to create a QR code that will really make a statement, a few graphic design skills can go a long way. I love that these images can be altered to fit the colors or theme of any celebration. For those who don’t possess the skills there are professionals, like CustomQRCodes, that offer to custom design your own innovative QR codes for a fee. Below are a few of my favorites that they created.
