Save the Dates

Posted on May 18, 2012 by  Miss Independent Bride   //   Comment

I arrived home from school to find my Save the Dates had arrived! I could barely wait to open them up and when I did I couldn’t be happier with them! We didn’t want to do Save the Dates with a picture, so I combined a few different designs to make postcards. Here’s the final product!

And the back:

I ordered them from Vistaprint and they have a fantastic selection of clip art and pre-made designs for you to use. I chose to upload my own since there was an option for that as well. If any of you brides-to-be are looking for Save the Dates, Invitations or Thank You cards, be sure to visit Vistaprint and you will be amazed with the great deals and quality you will receive!

Ooo Wedding invitations!~ After taking our sweet time with making a decision… we decided to go with a pocketfold invitation – and we could not be happier with our beautiful invitations!~ Thank you to my uber wonderful Mom & sister for helping me add the finishing touches (jewels, the belly band and DJ cards) and get them finished in record time!! You’re the best!

TA-DAH! Our pocketfolds!~

The ‘Request a Song’ cards I made.. I think they turned out really well! Looking forward to seeing what songs our guests want to dance the night away to!~

Calligraphy

Posted on May 10, 2012 by  Miss Sweetheart Bride   //   Comment

I featured my beautiful Vera Wang invitations back in January. Invitations were the first wedding detail I took care of, and I always knew I wanted to address them with calligraphy. Back in Indianapolis, my mom found an incredible calligrapher, Jane Farr, to help us out!

Jane Farr has her own blog, which features her impressive collection of calligraphy projects. Here are some of my favorites!

Be sure to check out more of Jane’s work at her website!

DIY: Invitation Suite

Posted on April 22, 2012 by  Miss Irish Bride   //   Comment

May I introduce to you my pride and joy… our invitation suite!  This is the graphic design project I have been waiting for and I was so excited when it finally came time to get to work.  I knew I wanted to incorporate our colors and stripes, while conveying rustic elegance.  Although the design is somewhat traditional and a bit preppy, the jute rope we used to tie all the pieces together shows the country side of our wedding.  I really love these and couldn’t wait to share them with you!  I was able to upload our design and get these printed via UPrinting.com.

We included an RSVP card and the info card, complete with a map, travel info, accomodations and our wedding website. Then we tied them up with a little tag.

RSVP envelopes had our personalized stamp (more to come on that) and addresses were done by hand with a calligraphy marker by yours truly.  Although it took more time I liked adding that personal touch to each invitation.

Now they’re all in the mail and each guest gets a pretty invitation package like this:

After creating our wedding invitations (and loving it), I’m seriously thinking of jump starting my own wedding stationary business. Etsy here I come!

Hey Mr. DJ… Play My Favorite Song!~

Posted on March 31, 2012 by  Miss Sparkly Bride   //   Comment

Now here is a fabulous idea that I wish I could claim to have come up with myself…but I stumbled across it online. I cannot wait to use it! Along with our invitations, Matt and I will be including a song request song card! If any of our guests have a special song from their own wedding or a favorite song that makes them get up and dance the night away – we want to know! It will be a separate card, and if they want to fill it out and send it back along with their RSVP.  We will make our best efforts to make sure that song is played during the evening! We hope that this will keep our guests dancing the night away and really making them feel a part of our day!

I’ve been looking for some cute ideas for the DJ request cards.. and so far here are my favorites!

What do you think of this idea? Have you ever been to a wedding that has used this idea??
