Spring has sprung!~

Posted on April 22, 2012 by  Miss Sparkly Bride   //   Comment

It’s mid-April, and that means Spring Time! Well… at least it should!~Here in central Canada, Mother Nature has some other plans apparently! As I look out my windows and it doesn’t look very “Springy” yet (I saw snow this morning!)… so I thought I’d share my favorite part about spring, flowers… but more specifically…TULIPS!

I love the spring flower so much, and I am (not-so) patiently waiting for mine to bloom in our front yard! While I was outside checking on them, I thought how beautiful they’d for a  spring Bride to include in her big day! Check out these beautiful spring tulips.. that are definitely wedding worthy!~

Happy Spring & Happy Planning Bride-to-bes!!

a beautiful illusion

Using one color in abundance, keeping it simple with a monochromatic tone and using one kind of flower created this ethereal, peaceful, modern and certainly memorable dining setting.  With simple glass tubes and white ranunculus floating overhead and on the table, it creates drama without being over the top and definitely something that’s never been seen before.  In this case, less is definitely more.

Inspired by the Ginger King

Posted on March 28, 2012 by  Miss Peacock Bride   //   Comment

My Dad is the self-proclaimed “Ginger King”. What started out as a job has truly turned into a passionate belief that ginger can add amazing flavor to any food and has indisputable health benefits. My Dad is the best, I feel so lucky to have him as a father.  So when I first saw these red ginger flowers at Reading Terminal Market my Dad came to mind right away.

I also couldn’t help but notice how beautiful and unique this flower is. I know my Dad would be delighted if he saw red ginger flowers at our wedding. They could make stunning centerpieces without any additions.  However, when I saw this next arrangement at the Borgata in Atlantic City (almost 5 months later) I was really impressed by the impact of mixing other textures with the ginger flower to create a dynamic combination. I must admit, after seeing this, the idea of using ginger flowers at our wedding was really starting to appeal to me.

So I had to wonder if any bride has ever had ginger flowers featured at her wedding. Now I feel that the wedding gods must be trying to send me a message.  It feels too coincidental that this tropical wedding took place in Kahala, the same place where David and I will be honeymooning.

I have to say, I’m feeling really inspired by this wedding and I hope my florist will feel the same way!

Tell me more….

Ever since I started interviewing vendors for the wedding, I’ve been getting rave reviews for Bridedesign.com. Essentially it is an online florist. You order practically any type of wedding flower (they even do arrangements) and it comes to you FEDEX’d two days before with instructions to refrigerate and water (there’s even an instructional video online) and Voila! insta-wedding flowers. They look wonderful, and the pricetag is SUPER nice. I think I might order a mock selection to see how it comes and see how well they could do for the real thing!

Gorgeous Garlands

Posted on February 25, 2012 by  Miss Peacock Bride   //   Comment

In an older post I mentioned using balloons to accentuate the high ceilings at our church. However, I’m thinking of changing the plans and focus on accenting the beautiful balconies with garlands instead. There are so many ways this can be done:

Baby’s BreathHydrangea & Black Crystal

Ivy & RoseSkinny Layered Flowers

FeatheredWhite Accents

I was really excited to learn that the hydrangea & black crystal garland was designed by my very own florist, Donna from Beautiful Blooms.  I cannot wait to talk to her about our design for our own gorgeous garlands!
