XOXO ~ Miss Fifties Bride

Being a blogger bride for It’s a Brides Life has been such an amazing experience. Most brides do not get the opportunity to blog for an entire year and share their hopes, feelings and ideas for everyone to read. I feel very fortunate and blessed to have been given this opportunity. Thank you to David Tutera for Mon Cheri and It’s a Brides Life. Thank you Colleen (editor for It’s a Brides Life). Big thanks to my family and friends and my husband for all the love and support. The biggest love and thanks goes to my readers and fellow It’s a Brides Life bloggers. Thank you for all the inspiration and comments along the way. I decided for my final blog just to keep it short and sweet and include some favorite photos from my day. I Love you all.

XOXO ~ Miss Fifties Bride

Oh so beautiful day…

Posted on October 10, 2013 by  Miss Fifties Bride   //   Comment

At 5 A.M. the beep bell alarm goes off; finally it’s my wedding day! Still so much to do on the day of. Soon it was time for hair and makeup appointments at I.M.E a Paul Mitchell salon for my mom and I, which is extra special to me because Mike’s cousin Evian is the owner and stylist and Mike’s cousin Evette is the makeup artist. My mom and I got pampered feeling like princesses and drinking chai while we all chattered about the wedding.  My mom’s hair was absolutely stunning. My hair and makeup was even more perfect than I could have imagined. To say they hit the target was an understatement!

As Evian put on my veil, I must admit it took my breath away. I just stared at myself in the mirror; I couldn’t believe today I was going to be a bride and most importantly marry my soul mate. Next we were off to head to my parents’ house to put on my gown. I took a moment when I got to my parents’ to fix my daughter Natalie’s hair. It was important to me because I wanted to spend a few moments to talk to her before the day got even crazier.

Now it was time to zip up my gown. I held my breath, not because I needed to fit in my gown, but because I was so nervous. Fit perfectly like it was made just to be mine. An hour flew by and then it was time to head to the church. As I waited parked in front of the church, my cousin Misti really helped me relax by praying with my dad and I. I believe even if you’re not religious, for a bride it’s important to take a moment of silence to gather your thoughts and emotions.

Finally it was time! The church doors opened and “Here comes the bride” was being played. Nervously I walked up to my groom; he gave me his hand and he simply said “You look beautiful babe”. He never let go of my hand. I believe if he did I might have fainted. Lol. We then sealed it with a cute kiss. On the way out I hugged each and every person that came to our ceremony, which meant a lot to me. Our reception was just as perfect. It was a more than beautiful day with our family and friends and I couldn’t have asked for anything more.

A gown to remember

Posted on September 23, 2013 by  Miss Fifties Bride   //   5 Comments

My big day finally arrived! I put on my undergarments and my bridesmaids zipped me up into my beautiful David Tutera for Mon Cheri gown. As I looked at myself in the mirror, I knew it was perfectly made for me. All my hopes and dreams as a young girl came true in that moment; it took my breath away. I couldn’t believe I was in my dream dress and finally marrying the man of my dreams. I was feeling so blessed and consumed with happiness. I had only felt this much joy in my life once before when my daughter was born. Finally my dream had came true. I couldn’t believe Michael’s face as I was walking into the church. All he could say was, “Your beautiful”. The gown sparkled in the sun during pictures and I kept getting compliments from random strangers.

I can’t imagine that another gown would have completed me so well. If you guessed that I chose the beautiful Nevaeh gown, then you were right. Nevaeh was meant for me; I fell in love with my gown. I am sad to have worn Nevaeh for only a day, but I am hoping to pass this gorgeous gown on to my daughter one day. Thank you to Mon Cheri Bridals & David Tutera for my beautiful gown. I truly felt like a princess.

Gettin’ fitted

Posted on September 12, 2013 by  Miss Fifties Bride   //   Comment

I am happy to report I had my final dress fitting yesterday and …it fits!!! YAY!!! Nothing feels more amazing to be able to zip up a beautiful gown and have it fit you just right. I was very grateful to find a wonderful seamstress locally. Sewing and More is an amazing small town secret. Arte, the shop owner and seamstress, was simply amazing!! She made me feel right at home and she answered all my questions no matter how silly they were. There was a point when my mom had a hard time knowing how to fasten my dress and I had a mini panic attack. Arte was there to reassure me and make me feel like everything was ok. It was hard for me to trust anyone with my gown, but I am so happy I trusted Arte. She really took special care and time with my gown. I felt like she was as happy to have my gown in her shop just as much as to own it. The experience was awesome and the work she did was amazing. I would whole heartedly recommend her! I would never trust my David Tutera for Mon Cheri gown to anyone else and I can’t wait to walk down the aisle looking beautiful with a well fitted dress. Thank you Sewing and More. Thank you Arte!

Hookah lounge?

Posted on September 11, 2013 by  Miss Fifties Bride   //   4 Comments

Many of my guests really enjoy hookah. I myself am not really into it. Having an Assyrian husband to be, hookah is something that is just always around. Some of my guests are asking me if there will be a hookah lounge at the wedding. I have never really thought about that.  I am still debating on whether to have one or not as there are a lot of pros and cons in having one.

Pros: Guest will enjoy, keeps people entertained and is very trendy.

Cons: where to set it up, keeping kids away from it and losing my guests to it during the festivities.

I have yet to bring up this idea to Mike; maybe he would be able to make the decision. I think it would be cool to do something different. I just want my guests to be comfortable and have an amazing time. What do you ladies think? Hookah or no Hookah?
