HAPPILY MARRIED JULY 2012
I met my fiancé Steven when I was in an 8th grade art class. We didn’t know we were meant for each other then, but we fell in love by exchanging letters during his time at the United States Naval Academy. We recently moved to Massachusetts to attend graduate school and be together after a lengthy long distance relationship.
Steven proposed on a Thursday night to surprise me. I was highly suspicious that he was going to propose that weekend and was convinced he could not possibly catch me off guard. Boy, was I wrong! I came to his apartment after work expecting him to be making stir-fry for dinner. Instead, there was candlelight, red roses, and five letters for me to read (or skim in excitement because at that point I had figured out what was up). After I had finished reading, he jumped out of a closet, and I burst into tears of joy. I said, “Yes!” and got a beautiful ring. To end the night, we celebrated over dinner at The Capital Grille in Boston.
Our wedding will begin with an early afternoon ceremony at my childhood church followed by a reception at The Marrot in Indianapolis, IN. We are still finalizing the details. We want our wedding to celebrate not only our love for each other, but also the love we have for our family and closest friends. I see myself in my dream gown carrying the bouquet my sister-in-law assembled for me, wearing the veil my mother made for me, and walking down the aisle to the sound my church choir. Our wedding day will leave us with many special and unique memories that will last a lifetime.
