Thank You, and Farewell to Miss Detailed Bride

Posted on September 9, 2013 by  Miss Detailed Bride   //   8 Comments

I have had the privilege of reliving every moment of my wedding as I share my wedding recap posts with all the “It’s a Bride’s Life” readers.  As I look back on August 3, I’m filled with love and appreciation for everyone who made it the best day of my life.  Chris and I are so blessed to have such wonderful family and friends in our lives, and we can’t even begin to thank everyone enough for their love and support.  Of course, I owe a special “thank you” to my mom who has been by my side throughout the entire wedding planning process (even when I had a few bridezilla moments), and it’s because of her that I can say I had the wedding of my dreams.

As I write my final post as Miss Detailed Bride, it’s with a heavy heart that I watch this period of my life come to an end.  However, just as Chris and I are beginning a new chapter in our lives together, I am so happy to announce that I will be starting a new chapter of my life with “It’s a Bride’s Life.”  Although this is the end of Miss Detailed Bride, I will be returning as an “Expert” blogger for this fantastic website!  I am so excited to continue to share my wedding ideas and inspiration with all the followers of “It’s a Bride’s Life.”  So stay tuned for more posts by “Erin,” and keep an eye out for my new icon complete with a new dress by Mon Cheri Bridals!

The Story of Erin and Chris – Our DJ

Posted on September 8, 2013 by  Miss Detailed Bride   //   Comment

I’m a firm believer that your DJ can make or break your wedding reception.  Luckily for Chris and I, we had a phenomenal DJ!!

DJ Willie T of 2nd II None Productions did so much more than control the music for the evening…he served as Master of Ceremonies, entertaining our guests, and keeping the energy level high.  I felt at ease throughout the entire reception, because Willie took care of everything!

Before the reception, Willie took time to get to know Chris and I as a couple.  Throughout the evening he shared some of the things he learn about us, adding a personal touch to our reception.  Unlike other DJs who sit behind a booth all night, Willie spends the evening out on the floor interacting with guests, so he’s always close by if you need him.

We have received so many compliments from our guests about our DJ, and how much fun they had at our reception.  It’s easy to see from these pictures, that everyone had a blast!  If you are in the Pittsburgh area, I HIGHLY recommend 2nd II None Productions for your wedding!  Words can’t even begin to describe my appreciation to DJ Willie T for all of his hard work.  He was truly an amazing DJ, and it’s easy to see that he loves his job.

The Story of Erin and Chris – A Pittsburgh Tradition

Posted on September 7, 2013 by  Miss Detailed Bride   //   2 Comments

I’ve mentioned before that Pittsburgh has a unique tradition at wedding receptions.  Pittsburgh couples are known for having over the top cookie tables, and Chris and I were no exception.

We turned the entire upper level of our reception hall into a room for our cookies, complete with candelabras and damask table runners to keep our theme cohesive throughout the reception.

Each cookie was perfectly plated, and had its own damask name card.

One corner of our cookie table included bags of assorted chocolates for our guests’ enjoyment.  Guests could also take a bag full of kisses and leave a their best wishes for the new Mr. and Mrs.

The Story of Erin and Chris – Our Reception

Posted on September 6, 2013 by  Miss Detailed Bride   //   Comment

After we exchanged vows, and posed for pictures, it was time to get the party started!  Our reception was held in the Glessner Ballroom at Oglebay Resort, and thanks to our wedding coordinator, Lori Horvath, the evening ran smoothly, and our guests had a blast.

After our guests enjoyed cocktail hour, the wonderful DJ Willie T of 2nd II None Productions introduced the bridal party to a crowd of family and friends.

Chris and I kicked off the evening’s festivities by cutting our cake.  Not only was it the perfect design to match our elegant black and white theme, but it tasted phenomenal too!

Before dinner, my father welcomed all the guests and thanked everyone for being a part of our special day.  My Maid of Honor, my brother, and Chris’ Best Man all gave fantastic speeches to toast our new life together.

Of course, Chris and I shared a kiss every time our guests clinked their glasses.

We filled the ballroom with elegant black and white décor.  Each table was covered with damask linens, and crystal candelabra centerpieces towered over our guests.  Our damask theme could be found throughout the décor, in everything from the table numbers to the card box.

We decided to make a donation instead of giving favors to our guests.  Since Chris and I have each had family members affected by cancer, a donation was made in their honor to the American Cancer Society.

Before our guests filled the dance floor, Chris and I had our first dance as husband and wife.  We spent a lot of time searching for the perfect song for this moment, and finally agreed on Hunter Hayes – Wanted.

I shared a special dance with my dad, dancing to one of my favorite songs by Frank Sinatra.  Chris and his mom also shared a moment on the dance floor before the party continued for our guests.

To make things a little more entertaining, Chris had to dance and earn my approval before he could take off my garter!  Keeping with traditions, Chris threw my garter to all the single guys in the crowd, and I tossed the bouquet to all the single ladies.

Everyone spent the evening celebrating with Chris and I. The dance floor was filled with our guests, dancing the night away.  Everything went so perfectly, that I didn’t want the night to end.

The Story of Erin and Chris – The Flowers

Posted on September 5, 2013 by  Miss Detailed Bride   //   Comment

For those of you who have been following my posts, you’ll remember that I had been struggling with the type of flowers that I should carry with my black and white color scheme.  I knew from the beginning that I didn’t want to carry shades of white, because when held against my white dress, they would look ivory or cream.

My mom had suggested carrying shades of purple for a pop of color.  Well, I took a chance and followed her advice…I must say that mother knows best!!  The purple flowers looked simply gorgeous against the bridesmaids black dresses, and they added an exciting pop of color to our theme.

Becca Silvestros, a family friend, and mother of one of the groomsmen, who has been creating floral arrangements for years, designed the bouquets and boutonnieres.  She did a wonderful job!  I basically gave her the freedom to do whatever she wanted, with the only stipulation being that I wanted the girls to carry arm bouquets instead of a traditional composite bouquet.

The bouquets consisted of purple roses, stock, statice, and purple wax flowers.  Becca even added a little “bling” to the bouquets by dipping the tips of the roses in glitter for some added sparkle.  For an extra special touch, my bouquet was finished off with crystal bouquet picks by David Tutera’s “Down the Aisle in Style” collection.
