Wedding Day Recap 1

Posted on October 25, 2013 by  Miss Crafty Bride   //   Comment

Where do I even begin?  I knew it would be an amazing day but I really had no idea what I was in for.  It was exciting, emotional, fun, and truly the best day of my life!  February 10, 2012 Nick asked me to marry him and from that moment we made a promise to each other that throughout the planning process we would not stress or fight but just enjoy every moment.  Of course it’s not always smooth sailing but I have to say planning a wedding with Nick made it even more evident that we belong together.  Some men would want no part of planning a wedding, but he was involved in almost every aspect of the planning.  This is difficult for me to admit but…he definitely did a better job keeping everything organized than I did.  He made every moment fun even when it was something he didn’t particularly love doing (going to craft stores).  He also helped me to realize that even though I claim to be crafty (I try, I really do) sometimes it’s better just to let someone else take over or cut out things that will take more time than it’s really worth.  Who wants to spend all day trying to make something when I could spend time with my honey.  I think you get the idea, I’m crazy about my husband and think he’s just the best thing since sliced bread!  I guess that’s why the day was so emotional.  Just take a look at our first glimpse.

I really didn’t know what to expect and I was a little nervous it would be awkward to have the photographers and videographer around.  Adrienne and Stacy from Element Photography and Jeff from Ashe Productions were amazing!  They had Nick sneak up and surprise me and the minute I turned around it was like we were the only two people in the world.  It was a moment I’ll never forget.

My nerves didn’t really set in until the ceremony.  I started to get really emotional right before I walked down the aisle but managed to make it through the whole ceremony without a crazy break down.  Once I was up on the stage holding his hand I was able to relax.  Our officiant Andy Mahaney did an unbelievable job!  We received so many compliments on our ceremony because of him.

Here is our first kiss as husband and wife!

My brother did an amazing job singing and playing our first dance song!

An incredible end to an incredible day!

The Dress

Posted on October 24, 2013 by  Miss Crafty Bride   //   Comment

When I started looking at wedding dresses online I had a very clear idea of what I wanted.  I wanted straps or sleeves, tons of beading and lace, and a mermaid style.  When I met with Josh at The Perfect Dress he told me to pick some dresses and he picked some dresses.  I tried on all of my picks and they were nice but something just wasn’t right.  Then Josh showed me his pick.  It was a beautiful dress but I knew there was no way I would like it on.  It was strapless and besides beading around the waist it was pretty simple and it was A-line.  I didn’t want to be rude though and figured I would try it on just to be polite.  I walked out of the dressing room and looked at my crew for a reaction.  They smiled but didn’t want to say anything until they heard what I thought.  I looked at myself in the mirror and started crying.  It was perfect!  James Clifford Style #J11234 turned out to be the absolute perfect dress for me!  Thank you so much Mon Cheri Bridals and It’s a Brides Life!

What About Mom

Posted on September 17, 2013 by  Miss Crafty Bride   //   1 Comment

My dad and my step-dad are walking me down the aisle.  I am dancing with my dad at the reception.  Obviously I’m am looking forward to these moments so this is not to discount them at all, but WHAT ABOUT MOM?  I’m not going to lie, my mom is my BFF.  I drag her out with me shopping all the time, at 31 (eek I said it) I still run everything by her for her opinion even if I don’t always listen, I call her for everything from how to bake a pie to should I put an offer in on the house.  So, I feel it’s only fitting to honor her in some way at our wedding.  But how?  Well, I’ve seen some great ideas that I just may incorporate in my wedding but she’ll just have to wait and see which ones…

  • I could give her special mention during the ceremony
  • I could add a mother/daughter dance to the reception
  • I could have the DJ dedicate a special song to her from me
  • I could give a toast to her at the reception
  • I could give her a special gift

Are you planning something special for your mom at your wedding?

Bathroom Baskets

Posted on September 16, 2013 by  Miss Crafty Bride   //   Comment

One of the last things that I have yet to do but definitely want to is make a basket for the bathrooms.  Nick thought it was strange.  He’s obviously never had to use the hairspray out of one to fix his updo at a wedding!  I think it’s a nice gesture for your guests.  I have seen them before and I know what I think goes in them but I found these lists really helpful.  Looks like I have some shopping to do!
