06-02-12: The Celebration

Posted on July 20, 2012 by  Miss Irish Bride   //   3 Comments

After our ceremony, we gathered up our wedding party and Laurie took some amazing pictures! The Blackthorne Inn‘s bridge and gazebo were the perfect spots to capture some of our best wedding day shots.  Meanwhile, our guests were enjoying live Celtic music, cocktails and yummy hors d’oeuvres!

After all of our hard work it was incredible to see everything come together! Guests were welcomed with navy and green koozies, which had seating tags for them.

I designed and created all of the printed items, including the ceremony programs, table signs and menus, which had a “Thank You” message to our guests on the back. I was so happy with how they all came out!

After our grand entrance and first dance, we made sure to eat… and our food was so delicious! My Man of Honor, my brother, gave a sweet toast that brought me to tears.  And Shaun’s sister, his Best Woman, included her husband and daughter (our Junior Bridesmaid) in a fun blues song toasting us.  Both were wonderful!

The (perfect!) evening continued as Shaun danced with his mom and me with my dad.  We (Dad and I) surprised everyone by breaking into “Sweet Caroline” in the middle of our dance.  It definitely started the party! When not dancing, our guests signed our Red Sox and Nationals shirts (a nod at how we met- at a Sox/Nats game).

As the celebration went on, our guests enjoyed the Cigar Bar and Dessert Bar!

06-02-2012 was the most amazing day of our lives… and we wouldn’t change one thing!

06-02-12: The Dress

It was the first dress I tried on and the one that I wore on our big day. My beautiful Kalia dress by David Tutera for Mon Cheri was one of my favorite parts of the wedding. After my hair and makeup was done, my bridesmaids helped me step into my dress. I felt amazing and couldn’t wait for everyone to see, especially Shaun!

The hand embroidered lace and Swarovski crystals were just breathtaking. Thankfully I had my crew of bridesmaids to bustle my dress (17 in all!) after the ceremony.

The fit was perfect and I felt like such a beautiful bride. I think Shaun agreed!

Everyone assisted in carrying my long train. Even Shaun helped out, but I don’t think he minded. Thank you David, for the most beautiful dress… fit for an Irish bride!

06-02-12: The Wedding

Posted on July 16, 2012 by  Miss Irish Bride   //   1 Comment

I woke up filled with excitement the morning of June 2nd. Making sure to not wake the girls, I took my coffee out on the porch of our cabin at The Blackthorne Inn and enjoyed a quiet moment before our wedding day began.  It was the day we had been anxiously awaiting and it was finally here!

All of the ladies of the wedding party gathered at the Wolftone Pub to start our pampering with Belle Soeur. It was a fun morning, catching up and sharing laughs with best friends. My bridesmaids loved their monogrammed robes too!

As the day went on my excitement grew, knowing that I would soon be seeing Shaun and becoming his wife! The afternoon approached and as set-up was completed, the flowers arrived… Melle Fleur did such and amazing job! All of the details were coming to life and it was incredible to see!

Finally, it was go time! Dress on- check, pictures- check, now it’s time to get married!

Family and friends arrived and Celtic Music for Your Wedding began to play…

Our ceremony was SO perfect, thanks to Rev. Julie Price of Creative Ceremony.

The Irish Blessing and handfasting ceremony were the perfect touches for our Irish wedding.  And at last, we were announced as Mr. & Mrs. Shaun McElhinney!

All photos are by our incredibly talented photographer, Laurie Bracewell!

DIY: Straw Flags

Posted on May 30, 2012 by  Miss Irish Bride   //   Comment

You already know I love stripes, so I couldn’t help myself by adding striped straws to our wedding celebration.  After searching etsy I found the perfect navy and green striped straws from The Party Fairy.

To make them more personal and fun I wanted to add a flag to each straw.  So I used this straw template as inspiration and created a sheet of flags saying “Cheers!”, “Christine & Shaun”, “6-2-2012″ and “Slàinte!”, which is an Irish drinking toast that means “health” in Gaelic.

I then printed the sheets, cut up the flags and used a glue stick to secure them around the straws.  A little triangular cut to finish them off and our straws were ready to go!  They’ll be placed in mason jars on each of our bars, so guests can add a little extra fun to their drinks. Slàinte !
