Some Greek Adornments

Posted on August 10, 2011 by  Miss Destination Bride   //   Comment

I don’t think my look would have been complete without some bling here and there. I loved my jewelry – all made for me by two amazing friends. To top it off, the amazing girls from Hair and Soul Salon in Santorini just did a phenomenal job. Trial run not necessary – they were pros!

Short heels, strappy Greek feel, with a bit of sparkle!

The double headband made for me by Water Flowing West.

The earrings made for me by S. K. Rhoades Design. (I loved them so much, I had her make similar pairs for my bridesmaids!)

Beautiful armband also made by S. K. Rhoades Design!

And the wonderful gals from Hair & Soul Salon. They were so incredibly fun. They really started the day off stress free!

And the final product!

For none of the girls to have ever spoken with each other, they certainly made everything come together as one!

A Greek Goddess Wedding Dress

Posted on July 27, 2011 by  Miss Destination Bride   //   1 Comment

I have so many beautiful pictures, and a whole other event, I have no idea where to start.

So, I’ll start with the dress, because who doesn’t love some good dress photos!

I was going for a Greek feel, of course, and I found the perfect gown in Mon Cheri’s Destination line.

It even looked beautiful on the hanger!

It had absolutely GORGEOUS details. The bead work, the folds – just beautiful.

I love the layers of light fabric!

The fabric flew so easily in the breeze, perfect for beautiful pictures!

Don’t get me started on that fly-away drape! How amazing is it!!

Here’s a full-length photo of it – perfectly fits its surroundings!

Look at that fly-away drape go! It loved playing in the wind on top of that cliff!

Here’s the back of the gown – just as beautiful as the front!

Already mentioned, the fabric was so light I could dance around in it easily!

And the woman who made my dress fit me like a glove? That would be Toula from Ms. Couture:

I don’t think anyone else could have made it MY dress! Thank you, Toula!!

The Pictures Are In!

Posted on July 16, 2011 by  Miss Destination Bride   //   1 Comment

My amazing photographer Harris from Orasis Photography (home base in Athens, Greece) sent us our photos. And I can’t post them until AFTER the home reception (this Saturday). This is maddening! They’re works of art and I cannot wait to show them off!

So, I leave you with this teaser photo:

After this Saturday, prepare for the onslaught of photos from the trip!

Oh, Sweet Goodness!

The candy bar candy came in!

And I realize it was not a good idea to plan so far ahead (two weeks) because now I have all this amazing candy just SITTING in my study. Oh, goodness!

I got all my candy at Candy Warehouse. TIP – when you’re ordering, if it’s hot on the day you want to place the order, they will advise you get the candy shipped to you faster so no heat damage happens. Well, to do that would have cost me (from California to Chicago) $175 EXTRA! No way! So I waited until the next day when it was cooler and ordered then.

Okay, candy:

I picked out my candy sticking to a color scheme (red, light blue, pink, orange, mint green) and the general nostalgic vibe. Some (like the lollipops) have all colors, but those will just color-up the candy bar and be fun to look at! I also decided against chocolate, knowing full well what it’s like in Southern Indiana in the middle of July.

A – Marshmallow Cones
B – Taffy
C – Sour Twists (because my friend Mike said no candy bar is complete without something sour)
D – Candy Buttons
E – Cherry Hard Candies
F – Rock Candy
G – Wax Sips (which I also got more of at Oriental Trading when I placed an order for trinkets)
H – Circus Peanuts (my sister tried to convince me to not get these “ew” candies, but I know many who like them! … like me)
I – Candy Sticks
J – Mini Lollipops (coupled with bigger ones from Oriental Trading. This is going to be fun to set up!)
K – Satellite Wafers
L – Unicorn Pops

If I can find bubble gum in my colors in Chicago or my home town, I’ll be getting those as well. Candy Warehouse only had an 850 count option. Definitely do not need that many!

I am SO EXCITED to put this candy bar together! I hope I can take pictures before it’s completely eaten up!

Goodies for the Kiddies

Posted on July 1, 2011 by  Miss Destination Bride   //   Comment

I continue to wait for my professional pictures with excitement and impatience; I know full well the pictures will be amazing yet I have always been an impatient person.

In the meantime, I plan for the home reception for family and friends who could not make it out to Greece.

One of the things I have been waiting to make are the goody rolls for the kids. These cute goodies will sit on the candy bar.

They’re little rolls with trinkets inside!

What you’ll need:

– Tissue paper (Paper Mart)

– Trinkets (Oriental Trading. Though Party City if you’re looking for something specific.)

– Toilet paper rolls

– Twine (Paper Source. Cheaper than anything I found on the web.)

They’re quite easy to put together. Put the toys inside, wrap up the roll, tie the twine:

And voila!

Little gifts for the young and young at heart!
